Coins for Conservation
Coins for Conservation is an exciting new initiative that will greatly enhance our wildlife conservation work, while educating our guests, providing interactive experiences and, provoke our guests to take action to protect their world.
Every guest coming to Blank Park Zoo is notified that a portion of their regular admission price, or of every membership purchased, would go directly to support conservation efforts locally, nationally and internationally. Guests are then given a token and provided the opportunity to choose one of three conservation initiatives they would like to support. By simply dropping their token in a fun, interactive coin machine they have joined thousands in helping the Blank Park Zoo protect and conserve wildlife around the world.
Coin for Conservation 2010 Initiatives:
- Greater Prairie Chicken Project – helping restore and sustain Iowa’s population of native chickens.
- Georgia Sea Turtle Center – helping with sea turtle rehabilitation, research and education.
- Giraffe Conservation Foundation - helping to promote and support giraffe conservation initiatives.
Blank Park Zoo has provided another hands-on way to inspire appreciation of the natural world, all while providing an opportunity to engage our community.
