Eggstravaganza: A unique Des Moines egg hunt at Blank Park Zoo

If you haven’t seen some of our Facebook posts recently, you’ve missed out on some pretty funny sightings of the Easter Bunny around town on his way to Blank Park Zoo.

The Zoo is gearing up for our second annual Eggstravaganza event – which this year is Saturday, April 7.

There’s something for everyone:

·         An egg hunt for the little ones – we’ve got more than 12,000 filled eggs!

·         A scavenger hunt for older children – this hunt will give you clues about different Zoo animals and take you from one exhibit to the next.

·          The Golden Egg hunt begins Monday, April 2. You’ll find clues posted to our website, Facebook and Twitter pages where you can find the five golden eggs that will be hidden in the Zoo for Eggstravaganza. Be the first to find one of these eggs Saturday morning for some big prizes!

Guests aren’t the only ones hunting for eggs – the animals will have enrichment items placed in their exhibits throughout the day to participate in the fun as well. Watch your favorite feathered, flippered and furry friends interact with unusual Easter eggs of their own to keep them entertained in their exhibits.

Blank Park Zoo’s Eggstravaganza is truly an event for the whole family. From the egg hunts to craft activities and games to animal enrichment and even a special visit from the Easter Bunny (with photo opportunities!), this is an event you don’t want to miss.

Doors are open from 10 am to 4pm. Eggstravaganza activities are free with regular Zoo admission and free for Zoo members. We’ll have some membership specials available that day – so make sure to join or renew your membership!
