Doing Zoo Brew at Blank Park Zoo
I have a confession to make. I’ve worked at the Zoo for a year and a half, and last night was the first time I worked at Zoo Brew. With a conflict most Wednesday evenings, I was excited for my chance to get in on the fun.
Zoo Brew is a blast to attend – listening to live music, enjoying free samples of drinks, having fun times with friends – all while experiencing the animals of the Zoo. You can even ride the train!

Being on the other side of the event, I had a lot of appreciation for the hard work that our events staff and volunteers do each week to set up the event. From bars and tent set-up to making sure the band is in place, a lot of time and effort from staff and volunteers goes into making the event seamless for our guests like you to enjoy.
I started out working the Groupon table in front of admissions. A lot of people made the most of this deal earlier this year! Make sure to look out for the special next year – it’s a great way to snag a deal on admission tickets. Another way to ensure a great deal to Zoo Brew is through purchasing a membership – you get free admission to every Zoo Brew! You can also check the Zoo Brew Facebook page for weekly coupons and giveaways.
After working the Groupon table I moved to help in the bar area near the band. My job was to pour the margaritas while other volunteers served daiquiris and beers and sold our famous Zoo Brew t-shirts with the slogan “Lions, Tigers and Beers – Oh My!”

It was a fun night and I’m excited for the next two Zoo Brews. If you haven’t been yet, make sure to stop out. It’s a great way to experience the Zoo without the kids and have fun with your friends. And, make sure to appreciate – and tip! – the volunteers to thank them for their hard work! All tips go to support a different animal at the Zoo each week.
Hope to see you do Zoo Brew!
