Become a Red Panda Ranger on International Red Panda Day Sept. 15

Become a Red Panda Ranger at Blank Park Zoo as we celebrate International Red Panda Day next Saturday, Sept. 15!

International Red Panda Day is dedicated to teaching children all about red pandas and encouraging them to become Red Panda Rangers. By completing at least three red panda activities at Blank Park Zoo, you’ll earn your Red Panda Ranger certificate and learn about how you can help with conservation efforts for these animals.

During the day, you will have the opportunity to "travel" to the five home country ranges of the red panda and can complete up to five challenge activities around the Zoo.

Activities will be from 11 am to 4 pm and include:

  • Arts and crafts projects, including red panda masks and origami!
  • Keeper chat at 11:15 am
  • Training demonstration at 2:30 pm
  • Red panda enrichment demo
  • A life-sized red panda word scramble!

Blank Park Zoo is home to two female red pandas, Berry and Kitar. You can ask an animal keeper and volunteers questions about the Zoo’s red pandas as well as collect trading cards with their pictures.

You’ll also have a one-of-a-kind opportunity to experience firsthand the enrichment of our red pandas when you forage through straw, pine cones and grass to find a prize! And, you can watch the red pandas experience this same enrichment themselves. On your way out, make sure to stop in our gift shop and check out our special red panda display.

Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to learn all about the red pandas as we celebrate International Red Panda Day. Become a Red Panda Ranger Sept. 15!
