Trick or Treat - Getting ready for Night Eyes!
We’re just one day away from the biggest event at Blank Park Zoo – Night Eyes!
Last year, more than 30,000 people trick-or-treated their way through the Zoo the last two weekends in October. This year’s event kicks off tomorrow – Thursday, October 18. We can’t wait for you to join us!
Have you seen us getting ready for this merry, not scary Halloween extravaganza? Last Monday we began the two-week setup process as we gathered decorations, strung lights and set displays in place around the Zoo.
It takes a lot of man (and woman) power to gather the displays and get our exhibits set up.
Events coordinator Shelley secures the castle in place.
We couldn’t have done it without the help of dozens of volunteers! We have just a few things left to check off of our to-do list today as we put the finishing touches in place.
And what Night Eyes would be complete without candy? More than 500,000 pieces worth! That’s a lot of sugar.
Some has been delivered, and we’ve also picked other candy up, filling our Zoomobiles to the brim.
Because only at Blank Park Zoo do we have to crawl in cages to load and unload our candy haul.
We’ve got the candy and setup almost ready, so all we need is you to join us!
We look forward to seeing you all dressed up in your favorite costumes. Night Eyes runs Oct. 18-21 and Oct. 25-28 – Thursdays and Fridays from 5:30 to 8 pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 8 pm. Today is the last day for pre-sale tickets (purchase them online here), or at the door, tickets are $4 for Zoo members, $5 for guests.
Where else in Des Moines can you enjoy Halloween festivities among the gibbons, giraffe and goats? Join us for this sweet adventure!
