DES MOINES, Iowa (July 28, 2011) Iowa’s Blank Park Zoo is continuing its series of conservation evenings on Sunday, August 7, this time highlighting wolves. Jerritt Johnson, Director of Education at the International Wolf Center in Ely, Minnesota will speak about the conservation of wolves.
Advance tickets are required and can be purchased at or by calling the Blank Park Zoo, 515-974-2588. A social hour, presentation, dessert, and fundraising auction will be a part of the evening’s activities.
"We are excited to support the efforts of the International Wolf Center, said Jessie Lowry, animal keeper and conservation coordinator at Blank Park Zoo. “We hope to increase awareness of the issues surrounding the wolf and help the community appreciate the wolf as a top predator in our North American landscape. Every animal has an important role to play to keep ecosystems healthy and abundant habitat is vital for the survival of wolves and all North American wildlife."

The International Wolf Center is dedicated to preserving the natural world and caring for these incredible animals. The Center also uses scientific information to educate individuals about the importance of wolves and the need for coexistence between humans and wolves. They are committed to these amazing animals and hope to create a world where they can continue to thrive in their native range.
The Blank Park Zoo, Iowa’s WILDEST Adventure, is open every day 10am-5pm. Fridays until 8pm, now through September 2. Daily admission is $10.95 for adults, $5.95 for children under 12, and $8.95 for seniors and active military. The Zoo is located at 7401 SW 9th St., Des Moines, IA 50315.
