Kitsi the Japanese Macaque Picks Iowa State to win Big Game
DES MOINES, Iowa (Sept. 9, 2011) – Kitsi the Japanese macaque chose Iowa State to win the big rivalry game tomorrow. Kitsi sat in between two barrels each with a team logo painted on it. After a few minutes of indecision, Kitsi then chose the Iowa State barrel and sat on top of it. Later, Kitsi pushed the barrel with the Hawkeye logo on it down to the ground with disdain.
Chad Comer, a curator at Blank Park Zoo described the pick as an ‘enrichment activities,’ that is an activity to help keep the animals active, stimulated and healthy. Every animal at the Zoo has a daily enrichment protocol.
Last year Kavacha the tiger also chose Iowa State to win the game. Animals at Blank Park Zoo have incorrectly chosen the winner of the ISU vs Iowa game for the past three years, but have correctly picked the Super Bowl winner for the past two years.
Kitsi the macaque refused comment when asked if a keeper bribed him to pick Iowa State.
