Nationwide Gives Blank Park Zoo $100,000 for Expansion Efforts

Nationwide Gives Blank Park Zoo $100,000 for Expansion Efforts
DES MOINES, Iowa (Sept. 9, 2011) – Iowa’s Blank Park Zoo announced today Nationwide has given Blank Park Zoo’s Wild About Animals capital campaign $100,000.
“Saving, rebuilding, and enriching lives is what Nationwide’s corporate citizenship is all about. Nationwide is proud to support the Blank Park Zoo and help enrich the central Iowa community through supporting one of the most popular family-friendly destinations in the state,” says W. Kim Austen, President & COO, Allied Insurance, Commercial & Specialty Operations. “Organizations like the Zoo contribute to the overall quality of life in the community.”
Blank Park Zoo’s expansion campaign includes the recently opened David Kruidenier Australia Adventure, the re- construction of the seal and sea lion pool that will open next spring, a new animal quarantine holding facility, signage and exhibit interactives, and a new entrance and park just north of Blank Park Zoo set to open next spring. The next major component of the campaign will be a $10 million Africa exhibit, with ground breaking set for spring 2012 if funding is completed.
