Iowa’s #1 Children’s Halloween Event Returns
Night Eyes organizers order over half a million pieces of candy for event. Guests can save by purchasing tickets online through October 19h.
DES MOINES, Iowa (Oct. 11, 2011) Treats are arriving just in time for Iowa’s biggest Halloween event for children… Night Eyes at Blank Park Zoo presented by John Deere, Thursdays through Sundays starting October 20th.
“Night Eyes is a fun trick-or-treating event that has become an annual tradition in Central Iowa,” says Rachael Kinnick, the Zoo’s manger of special events. “We are busy transforming the Zoo into a fun, festive Halloween atmosphere, and we’ve ordered over a half a million treats this year.”
Families can save $2 off the regular $5.00 admission and enter through an “express line” by pre-purchasing tickets online at blankparkzoo.com or at local Dahl’s Foods, Fareway or Hy-Vee stores.

Dates and Times: October 20 - 23 and 27 - 30
Thursdays and Fridays from 5:30 pm to 8 pm, Saturdays and Sundays from 1 pm to 8 pm.

Ticket Information: $3.00 advanced tickets are available through October 19 online at blankparkzoo.com, at Dahl’s Foods, Fareway, Hy-Vee or at Blank Park Zoo. Tickets after October 19th at the gate and online are $5.00 ($4 for Zoo Members).
Special Guests: Curious George and Clifford; several princesses, Star Wars Characters as well as clowns, jugglers and more.

- There will be special surprise costume guests (Spiderman & Super Girl may make an appearance) throughout the event.
Common Questions and Answers about Night Eyes
What is Night Eyes? Night Eyes is a “merry, not scary” Halloween event at the Blank Park Zoo designed for younger guests to be able to Trick or Treat in a safe and fun environment. Guests walk through many stations to receive candy treats. Dates for this year’s Night Eyes are October 20 - 23 and 27 – 30. Thursdays and Fridays from 5:30 pm to 8 pm, Saturdays and Sundays from 1 pm to 8 pm. (on Saturdays and Sundays of Night Eyes, the Zoo will not open until 1pm)
The regular Zoo is closed for this event, although some animals will be on exhibit. This is the 21st year of Night Eyes and it is a fundraising event for the non profit Zoo. At the event, admission is $5.00 for each guest, and $4.00 per guest for families who have a Blank Park Zoo Membership Pass. .
Are Costumes required? No, but many guests do dress up. It is a great “dress rehearsal” for Beggars Night.
Is there a best time to go? The busiest times are usually Friday and Saturday from 6-7pm. Many guests like the Saturday and Sunday daytime hours, especially younger children who may scare easily. Of course, lighted displays are best viewed during the evening hours.
What else goes on? The annual Prairie Meadows “fun zone” will have an inflatable playground and games, an optional All Play Train Ride, an optional John Deere mini-tractor ride, Fareway’s Scarecrow Lane, Dahl’s Pumpkin Patch, costume characters will pose for pictures, as well as, clowns, jugglers and more. Food and gift selections will be available.
