Blank Park Zoo Releases Ad in Honor of Big Game
Iowa’s Blank Park Zoo released a new ad in honor of Sunday’s Big Game. The ad depicts what some Blank Park Zoo animals think about football and specifically, the Big Game.
DES MOINES, Iowa (January 31, 2013) – Iowa’s Blank Park Zoo released a new ad in honor of Sunday’s Big Game. The ad depicts what some Blank Park Zoo animals think about football and specifically, the Big Game.
“The commercials are such a big part of the game, I thought it would be fun to have one of our own,” said Ryan Bickel, Zoo spokesperson. “Spending $4 million to air it would be ridiculous and not possible but we could put it on the internet and let Zoo fans have fun with it in social media.”
Bickel said that he had three requirements for the ad: it would be fun, something different than Blank Park Zoo’s regular advertising and a little bit controversial. Bickel said some animal experts frown upon animal anthropomorphization.

In addition, Blank Park Zoo will have the RED PANDAS pick the winner of the Big Game tomorrow (Friday) morning at 10 a.m., Blank Park Zoo animals have a perfect record (3-0) of picking the winner Big Game. Members of the media and public are invited to watch who they will pick.
