Garden Detail

Host Plants:
Alcea "Hollyhock", Milkweed "Butterfly Weed" "Swamp Milkweed", Rudbeckia "Black-eyed Susan"

I have 9 acres that are grassy with wildflowers. I will plant Hollyhock this year. I have sedum in front of the house that butterflies appear to like, and milkweed in the back and a weigela that attracts hummingbirds. I hope to improve the garden each year.

Nectar Plants:
Monarda "Bee Balm", Echinacea "Coneflower", Zinnia

Other Pollinator Friendly Practices:
I do not use insecticides,I will provide over-wintering cover,I have provided mineral salts, we have been tossing vegetable and fruit scraps out back for wildlife to use.

What inspired you to create your garden?
I was already concerned about the diminishing bee population. I have been looking at planting flowers to help bee and butterfly population for several years. Your website and the news article have helped make my plan more effective.
