Bactrian Camel
The Bactrian camel has two humps and roams around a large three-acre area. The exhibit is unique because it is located at the Zoo’s entrance, does not require admission, and features a picnic area, shelter house, playground and two observation decks. Bactrian camels are well suited to live in Iowa and can tolerate our diverse temperatures. In the winter, they grow thick coats of fur and during the warm months, lose the fur in sheets and look almost bare.
