Our lion cubs have names! Kali (kaw-lee) meaning fierce, sharp; Asha (ah-sha) meaning life; and Jabari (ja-bar-ee) meaning the brave one.
“Blank Park Zoo is proud to educate our audience on the need to conserve African lions for future generations,” said Mark Vukovich, Blank Park Zoo CEO. “Kali, Asha and Jabari are a great addition to Blank Park Zoo and we look forward to the public visiting them this year.”
The lion cubs were born at Blank Park Zoo on November 14 and weighed 1.46 kg, 1.37 kg and 1.2 kg at their first physical on November 20 and have grown to 7.7 kg, 6.7 kg, 6.4 kg at their latest check-up.
The lion cubs cannot currently be seen by the public, but may be seen through a special closed-circuit monitor at the lion exhibit. The cubs are expected to be seen on exhibit regularly later this spring.
