Polliwogs is a Nature Play program designed for children ages 1 yr-2.5 years and an accompanying adult!
With guidance from both you and our zoo educators, children will learn through exploration and play. This is a child-centered program that is less structured than our traditional classes. During Polliwogs, children will engage in free play and hands-on experiences at various sensory bins and tactile stations around the classroom. Stations consist of a variety of natural substrates, tools, toy animals, and much more. This class not only supports young children’s social, physical and emotional development, but also helps them connect to and develop empathy for wildlife and nature.
Join us as we discover the wonders of nature through play, songs, stories, and visits from our animal friends.
Class dates/times/options are listed below. Each session includes four classes, and families are welcome to sign up for multiple sessions.
**Zoo Hours: Blank Park Zoo closes at 5 PM in September and 4 PM October-April. Participants in classes held after regular Zoo hours will be greeted at Admissions beginning 15 minutes prior to the start of class and directed to the Banker's Trust Learning Center.
Cost for zoo members is $32 and for non-members is $40.
Registration and pre-payment are required.
**Please note, natural substrates will be used during this class including bird seed which may contain traces of peanuts and tree nuts.
