Join your favorite furry, feathery, slimy, and fuzzy animal friends in an exciting, hands-on adventure during which we will read books, make crafts, create animal-themed snacks, enjoy visits from live animals, participate in educational activities and free play, and explore the zoo. Times vary and are included on the registration page.

August 28-31: Squeak, Squawk, Squeal
Animals talk to each other in very special ways that we humans don’t always understand.Today we will learn a new language – that of the animal world!Let’s purr, roar, and grrrr and discover what all those sounds might mean to an animal.
September 11-14: Tail Talk
Big, small, fluffy, or bare, tails come in all sorts or shapes, sizes, and textures.In this class we will learn why tails are made the way they are and how animals use them!
September 25-28: Colorful Creatures
From a purple peacock to a yellow stripped snake, animals come in every color of the rainbow! And, many of these colors and patterns exist for very important reasons.Today let’s explore the colors of the animal world, discovering why zebras are black and white and why macaws have bright yellow, red, and green feathers.
October 9-12: Grazing in the Grasslands
Join us as we explore some of the animals that roam and romp through the land of prairie grasses and flowers.Prairie dogs, birds, butterflies, and prairie chickens are just a few that hide in the dense tall grassland.
October 23-26: Bats are Best
Are you afraid of bats?These amazing mammals are often misunderstood.In this class, we will discover what makes bats so cool and why having them around can benefit us all!
**Saturday, October 26 the Zoo will not be open for regular Zoo hours due to our annual Night Eyes special event. On this Saturday, class participants will not be able to explore the Zoo after class as they would on other Saturdays. Night Eyes will not affect Wednesday-Friday classes.
November 6-9: Rainforest Rock
Let’s visit the rainforest and discover the many different sights and sounds there!Up high in the sky or beneath our feet, creatures can be found everywhere in the rainforest!
November 20-23: Mountain Mania
Imagine life in the mountains…slopes too steep to climb and heights and views that take your breath away.Snow leopards, red pandas, and tigers are just a few of the animals that prowl the mountain tops. Today we will learn about the wildlife that call the mountains home.
December 11-14: Sweets for the Beasts
In the wild, many animals spend their days actively searching for food, shelter, and water. The animals at the zoo need ways to keep busy too! In this class, we will learn about how zookeepers enrich the lives of the animals that live here.
Class cost covers child and one accompanying adult. Additional adults must use their zoo membership or pay admission. For non-members, class cost does include admission to the Zoo for the day.
Classes are the same during each theme week, please register for only one class per week.
Blank Park Zoo hours are 10am-4pm, October-April. For participants that attend class at 10am during those months, Zoo staff will greet you at Admissions approximately 10 minutes prior to the start of class.
All sales are final. No refunds will be offered unless class is cancelled due to low enrollment. Rescheduling depends on class availability and may only be done once. Rescheduling fees may apply.
