Blank Park Zoo's homage to fun, fair-time activities. Participate in a ‘rhino-chip’ throwing contest, a watermelon-eating event, try out your best gibbon-call, enter your masterpiece in an art and photography competition, and have fun making a cake for an ugly cake decorating contest. Help us decide which Blank Park Zoo animal should hold the honorary title of mayor in our Direct Your Dollar fundraiser, and many more activities. All activities will be socially distanced.
The Direct Your Dollar competition will decide which animal will hold the honorary title. Blank Park Zoo’s longtime mayor, ‘Deuce’ the lion is up for re-election this year. He will face stiff competition with several other candidates from across the Zoo who are hoping to unseat the carnivore. Each have strong campaign platforms and have been very busy preparing for this week.
Visitors to the Zoo will be able to support which animal should hold the honorary title by donating a dollar to their preferred candidate. Funds received will support the work of the nonprofit Blank Park Zoo. Voting starts on Monday and goes through Thursday at 4pm. Those three with the most support will be announced on Friday. They will move on to the next round of the campaign.
