Please click here to learn about the reopening experience at Blank Park Zoo.

Safety

  • Please do not lift children over or place them on the top of any fence or barrier.
  • Please remain on the paths at all times to respect the plants and animals at the Zoo.
  • Please do not throw objects into the exhibits.
  • The animals are on special diets, please do not share your food with them.
  • Masks are strongly encouraged but not required to attend Blank Park Zoo, except in the indoor Discovery Center Exhibit. All guests, ages 10 and up, will be required to wear a mask while touring. (This policy changed on June 29 and will become effective July 3)
Zoo employees are required to wear masks in public areas where they cannot ensure a six foot social distance from guests or coworkers and another form of PPE, such as plexiglass, is unavailable.
  • Please keep your group at least six feet apart from other guests.
  • Please do not visit Blank Park Zoo is you are feeling ill.

Outside Food

For the safety of the animals, no outside food or drink is allowed in the Zoo. Picnic grounds are open in Blank Park, just north of the parking lot. Concessions inside the Zoo are operated by Hy-Vee throughout the summer.

Photography of the animals is permitted (and encouraged) at Blank Park Zoo. Commercial photography, that is photography for publication or for economic or other gain needs prior written consent of the Blank Park Zoo Foundation. Call 515-285-4722 for more information.

Smoking

For the health and safety of our animals and guests, Blank Park Zoo is smoke, vapor and tobacco free.

Recycling

Please recycle beverage bottles in the recycling bins located throughout the Zoo and paper maps in the bins as you exit.
