Visitor Etiquette

Safety

• Respect boundaries. Do not cross fences, barriers, flowerbeds, and obey signs. Don't sit on, stand on, or hold children over barriers. DO NOT ENTER ANIMAL HABITATS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Entering animal habitats is considered criminal trespassing.
• Please remain on the paths at all times to respect the plants and animals at the Zoo.
• Please do not throw objects into the exhibits.
• The animals are on special diets, please do not share your food with them.
• Communicate with respect. Harassment, obscenity, hate speech, racism, offensive gestures or otherwise abusive treatment of any other guest, staff member or volunteer will not be tolerated.
• Blank Park Zoo reserves the right to involve law enforcement, change membership status or take other steps as needed.

Outside Food

For the safety of the animals, no outside food or drink is allowed in the Zoo. Water may be brought in and we provide several water bottle fill stations on grounds. Picnic grounds are available at Blank Park, just north of the parking lot. Concessions inside the Zoo are operated by Hy-Vee throughout the summer.

Photography

Photography of the animals is permitted (and encouraged) at Blank Park Zoo. Commercial photography, that is photography for publication or for economic or other gain needs prior written consent of the Blank Park Zoo Foundation. Call 515-285-4722 for more information.

Smoking

For the health and safety of our animals and guests, Blank Park Zoo is smoke, vapor and tobacco free.

Recycling

Please recycle beverage bottles in the recycling bins located throughout the Zoo and paper maps in the bins as you exit.
