Next time you visit the Discovery Center at Blank Park Zoo, be sure to look up! We have added several new, vibrant species of tropical birds to the rainforest habitat. They can be seen soaring through the sky, perching high in the trees, or grabbing a snack at various food stations throughout the Discovery Center. Watch your step. We also have several species of ground dwelling birds who are not shy and may hop out right in front of you.
The Discovery Center is one of the reasons Blank Park Zoo can be open year-round. In addition to this experience, many animal either don't mind the cold or have indoor viewing opportunities, allowing guests to still view them while warming up in the comfort of these buildings. Some animals, like the Amur tigers and Japanese macaques, love the cold and can sometimes be more active - especially when it snows. Visiting Blank Park Zoo in the winter can be an awesome experience for you and your family.
It costs nearly $27,000 to operate your zoo EACH DAY. Providing top notch animal care and guest experiences all year is not possible without the generous support of our community. Please consider a gift to Blank Park Zoo this holiday season so we can continue to inspire an appreciation of the natural world through conservation, education, research, and recreation.
